These software sometimes might be very harmful to you and can be designed to steal your cookies and personal credentials like your credit card number or your passwords. These can also be designed in such a way that they can pop up some annoying advertisement on your browser which may compel you to click on that, eventually, they distract you while you click on it by leading you on the harmful and virus containing websites.

How to protect yourself from these softwares?

If this kind of incident has happened to you, so you need to uninstall that software by changing up the settings of your browser. Just goto your browser setting and disable or delete them. Always try to keep yourself away from such softwares, and do not let them mess up with you by ignoring them.
