What is a virus?

Virus is nothing but a piece or snippet of a program, which is designed to accomplish a particular task. It gets the name VIRUS because it spread through human actions. A virus doesn't replicate itself. You bring a virus into your system by downloading files over the Internet and install them on your PC and some times you attach a corrupted file in your mails to send others, which corrupts other's systems. A virus attach itself to a document or a file to spread from one system to another. A virus might be a program which formats your hard drive, corrupts your files and keep your processor busy by sending it different instructions. A virus can be a program which hides your data means change your file attribute e.g convert your data attribute into read only format.

In order to keep yourself protected from a virus attack use a particular anti virus software, which checks your downloads and links over the Internet. Avira, bitdefender, quickheal are the anti virus programs.
