What is IP address?
IP Address
An IP address is a 32-bit address which is divided into two parts i.e. host ID and Net ID e.g, 10.30.35.89 is an IP address.
There are Five Classes in Class-based IP addressing like:
Class A: 1 - 127
Class B: 128 - 191
Class C: 192 - 223
Class D: 224 - 239
Class E: 239 - 255
There are two types of IP address e.g,
1. Static IP address
2. Dynamic IP address
Static IP address
A static IP address is an IP address that does not change frequently means it is a specific IP address that is assigned to you permanently whether you're online or offline. This sort of IP address doesn't acquire by anyone rather than you.
Dynamic IP address
A dynamic IP address is also an IP address which does change frequently means you're assigned to an IP address only until you're online, on the other hand as you connect to the Internet your ISP assign you an IP address from the pool of IP addresses and when you disconnect from the Internet this IP address is assigned to someone else as per DHCP server policy. It could assign you longer as per the DHCP lease. You get the different IP addresses when you next time connect to the Internet.
There are different ranges of Private IP addresses are designed in each class such as the below one:
For Class A: 10.10.x.x
For Class B: 172.16.x.x or 172.16.31.x
For Class C: 192.168.x.x
The IP address also comes in two versions i.e.
1. IPv4 (Internet Protocol Version 4)
2. IPv6 (Internet Protocol Version 6)
